Kaylea - Staff Spotlight Series

We created this Staff Spotlight Series to give our HFK Family the opportunity to learn more about our team and the work they do behind the scenes. Check out Kaylea’s interview below!

Kaylea Brown

Communications Director

1) How did you first learn about HFK and what attracted you to HFK’s work?

I first hear about HFK through my friend, Daisy. She had heard about a service trip to Costa Rica at the Liberty University Global Focus Week. I had served with her previously in Mexico so she knew I may be interested and I'm so glad she reached out!

I was able to see how many great connections HFK had to our partners and I loved getting to work with the kids and people. Having such a great organization with the purpose it does is very motivating to me and I love serving as the hand and feet of God to others.

2) What do you do in your role with HFK and what is your favorite part of it?

I run all of HFK’s social media platforms and support with content creation for other internal and external HFK communications (newsletters, trip recaps, website, etc.) I love being able to showcase the work our staff and service trip teams are doing locally and internationally. I also enjoy helping our organization stay connected to our HFK Fam and supporters through our social media!

3) What have been your biggest accomplishments for you in your role?

I started this role in spring of this year and have been able to bring several fun projects to life! I have been working on prioritizing more video content and continuing to grow our socials. I can’t wait for more projects to come!

4) Apart from your role in HFK, what else are you involved in?

I work full time as a photographer through my own business where I focus mainly on weddings, couples, and portraits. Within my town, I make sure to stay involved in church as well as community groups. Traveling is a huge part of my life so I am almost always on the go. I also continue to take HFK service trips!

5) How would you like to reconnect with HFK alumni?

I would love to participate in an HFK alumni service trip! It would be great to connect and reconnect with others through serving, to reflect the heart of what makes HFK so special.

6) What is something you’d like others to know about HFK that they might not know?

We still team up with colleges and universities to recruit, but you don’t have to be a student - or have been on an HFK trip before - to join us. No matter your age or background, if you’re interested in serving, we’d love to have you!
