This trip offers an international service experience in Barva, Costa Rica.
Below are some important details about this upcoming trip.
The last day to apply for this trip is January 18, 2027.
PARTNER SUPPORT
This team will serve the Roblealto Child Care Association as we learn about their ministry and the impact they have in their community. During our time together, team members will interact with the kids from the homes and the school, the ministry staff, the house parents, and the local community that our partner serves. We will also provide financial and physical support to further aid in their year-round ministry.
“Roblealto is a Christian, public welfare, non-profit organization that cares for the children of Costa Rica who are in critical situations and in need of specialized care and integrated services”. Serving with Roblealto may include moments of prayer, attending church, listening to Christian teachings & songs, and participating in other religious focused experiences.
Here is a short video about our partner and their mission. You can see our HFK teams at 1:48, 2:37, and 2:59!
While we partner with faith-based organizations, it is not a requirement to adhere to a specific religion or belief to join us. We strive to provide an equal opportunity to all individuals interested in our service trips, hoping that each life will be uniquely transformed. That being said, we ask each participant to be respectful of each other and of our partners, and to remain open to conversing about the things that make us different as well as the commonalities that bring us together.
SPECIAL INFO
This trip is designated for students of Grand Canyon University and Liberty University as travel will take place during their 2027 Spring Breaks. Friends, family, other university students or anyone interested in traveling with this group are welcome to join!
TEAM CAPTAINS
Your Team Captains for this trip will be Daisy Hortelano & Maya Hernandez. Here is a message from them:
Hiiii!!! I'm so excited for you to consider coming on the Costa Rica trip. I'm HFK's Global Ambassador and currently living in Costa Rica! I highly encourage you to join this trip because it's something life changing.
You're able to demonstrate God's love to others by playing soccer, doing crafts, service projects, or having simple conversations with the kids! Before deciding to come long term to CR, I went on two HFK trips to CR and it changed my life. I've been able to live out my calling and do what I love doing the most! Hope to see you next year in CR!!
-Daisy
Hello! My name is Maya, and I’m from Phoenix, Arizona. Growing up, my grandparents often went on mission trips to Mexico through their church, and their experiences inspired me to want to serve on mission trips one day as well.
Last year, I got baptized and began taking a deeper step in my faith. Earlier this year, I started attending Grand Canyon University and learned about their mission trip opportunities. They shared the link to Here for Kids, and I immediately began looking for a trip to join!
This past August, I served with HFK in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic, and it was a life-changing experience. I loved the community, the people I served alongside, and the opportunity to grow in my faith. I’m so grateful for that experience and excited to return and take on a more meaningful role this time!
-Maya
