2025 HFK Retreat Recap
We recently wrapped up our 2025 HFK Retreat, bringing together our Board Members, Staff, and Team Captains for a weekend of connection, collaboration, and celebration.
This past Service Season, our teams served in Mexico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Colombia. The retreat gave us space to reflect on the impact of our 2024-2025 trips and recognize the hard work behind another successful season.

Friday
Friday served as a travel day for many HFK retreat participants. Staff, Board Members, and Team Captains arrived in the Bay Area from across the country, traveling by both car and plane. Once in town, everyone settled into the team house, their shared home for the weekend. ✈️🚗🏡
Those who arrived earlier met up for a group dinner, followed by a sunset walk along the water and some fun outdoor games to unwind after a day of travel. Later that evening, the HFK Staff gathered for a brief planning meeting to prepare for the day ahead. 🌅🙌
Saturday
Saturday was spent surrounded by the serene beauty of the JBL Home Ranch, where HFK’s Board, Staff, and Team Captains came together for a full day of connection and purpose. We’re deeply grateful to our extended HFK Family for once again opening up this incredible space to host our retreat.
The day kicked off with meaningful discussions centered on HFK’s mission and the impact of the past year. Through thoughtful reflection and collaboration, the group revisited the work accomplished during the 2024–2025 Service Season and looked ahead to what’s next for the organization. There were even fun team-building activities to find new ways of collaboration. 💙🌞
In true HFK fashion, things got lively in the afternoon with the Retreat Olympics - now in its fourth year! Attendees were split into four teams, each bringing their own creative team name and cheer. The competition was fierce and fun, and after a series of spirited games, Team Colombia claimed the gold! 🥇💚
Later, HFK Staff shared annual department updates, giving a big-picture view of progress across the organization. The spotlight then turned to our amazing Team Captains, who each shared highlights, personal stories, and favorite moments from their service trips.
To end the day on a heartfelt note, the group took time to write thank-you letters to our donors - expressing gratitude and sharing real stories from the communities reached this season in Mexico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Colombia. 🇲🇽 🇵🇪 🇩🇴 🇨🇷 🇨🇴 🙏
Sunday
This year, we hosted our 2nd Annual HFK Family Reunion once again at the beautiful Lafayette Reservoir! 💙✨
With many Board Members, Staff, and Team Captains in town, we were thrilled to welcome back HFK alumni, family, and friends for another wonderful day of connection and celebration.

We enjoyed an amazing weekend of fellowship with our HFK family in the Bay Area! It was a meaningful time to reflect on this past season and gather fresh inspiration for the upcoming service year.
