This trip offers an international service experience in Tijuana, Mexico.
Below are some important details about this upcoming trip.
Last day to apply for this trip is May 10, 2026.
PARTNER SUPPORT
This team will serve alongside The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate as we learn about their ministry and the impact they have in their community. During our time together, team members will interact with the ministry staff, Search Tijuana youth group, and children and adults from the community that our partners serve. We will also provide financial and physical support to further aid in their year-round ministry.
For the duration of the trip our team will be staying at the Parroquia María Inmaculada. You can expect to engage in prayer, church services, and community events with this Catholic ministry.
While we partner with faith-based organizations, it is not a requirement to adhere to a specific religion or belief to join us. We strive to provide an equal opportunity to all individuals interested in our service trips, hoping that each life will be uniquely transformed. That being said, we ask each participant to be respectful of each other and of our partners, and to remain open to conversing about the things that make us different as well as the commonalities that bring us together.
SPECIAL INFO
This trip is unique in that it is only a weekend long, allowing greater flexibility for participants who are unable to commit to serving for a week.
Due to the proximity of our Tijuana partners, we ask that participants plan their own travel to the San Diego/Otay Mesa Border Crossing. Prior to crossing the border on Friday, the team will meet at a pre-disclosed parking location in San Diego. Everyone will cross together and be greeted by partner provided transportation on the Tijuana, Mexico side. Details will be discussed during pre-trip meetings led by the team captains.
TEAM CAPTAINS
Your Team Captains for this trip will be Skylar Chang & Diego Rios. Here is a message from them:
Hey everyone, I'm excited to be one of your team captains for this May Tijuana trip! This will be my second trip to Tijuana and my fourth HFK trip overall. On every trip we get the blessing to serve the children & staff at our partner sites through both play and service projects. I'm lucky to have had the opportunity to build roofs in Mexico, play soccer with kids in the mountains Costa Rica, and volleyballed in Peru!
These experiences have truly changed my life by pushing me out of my comfort zone and broadening my perspective of our world. On top of it all, I've gotten to build great relationships with the kids and staff that we meet and especially with my teammates that I get to share this experience with.
HFK has been an answered prayer in helping me live out my purpose of glorifying God and loving & serving His people. I hope you take this opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and join us for an incredible weekend in Mexico!
-Skylar
Hello there! HFK has played a huge part in my life both personally and professionally since my first trip in 2015. The pillars of my life align with HFK’s mission and vision: Kids, Sports, Latin America, Traveling, and God!
The opportunity to go through this unique and life-forming experience is a blessing. Additionally, being able to share it with others takes it to a deeper level. This is an experience some of your family and friends will never understand, yet you will forever share with others who begin as strangers and end as family.
I look forward to following God’s vision for this team and for you to live out the eternal joy of service! I will share the knowledge and tips I’ve learned throughout my 10 years traveling with HFK while learning from each trip participant and our partners in the process.
-Diego
