At Here For Kids International, service has always been at the heart of our mission of “Teaching the eternal joy of service.”
Over the past 15 years, we’ve witnessed how God has moved through our trips – shaping lives, building lasting partnerships, and even inspiring some participants to return and serve long-term. Until now, those opportunities have been available only through our partners in the Dominican Republic.
As our ministry in Costa Rica has grown, so has the desire to serve there in a deeper way. In 2025, God placed it on the heart of one of our Team Captains to commit to long-term service with our Costa Rica partners. Since no program existed to make this possible, we felt called to create one: the Global Ambassador Program.
This program opens the door for participants who have served on multiple trips to return for an extended season, offering consistent support to our partners while answering God’s call to serve beyond a single week. It allows us to walk alongside both our participants and our partners in a new and meaningful way.
We are excited to introduce Daisy, our very first Global Ambassador! She is preparing to spend a year serving with the Roblealto Child Care Association in Costa Rica. Who?
Daisy Hortelano is our first-ever Global Ambassador! She is someone who strives to serve everyone that she encounters. Whether that means opening the door or going on service trips and helping where it's needed. She also has a big heart for kids and being able to serve them in any way possible. She is very passionate about teaching English and utilizing the classroom as a way to serve others. She has served with HFK twice in Costa Rica and is excited to go back to continue to serve others as a teacher.

What?
Part of Daisy’s service in Costa Rica will be to teach English during school hours and lead after-school classes at the Bible Home. She’ll also assist with Spanish and Math instruction, while supporting HFK Service Trips and volunteer groups through interpretation and logistics. Daisy is excited to continue sharing God’s love through meaningful service and relationships.

Why?
Costa Rica has a special place in Daisy’s heart. When she visited Costa Rica with HFK to serve at Roblealto, the kids made a huge impact in her life. Their joy and happiness reminded her of why she loves serving in the first place. Showing God’s love through simple acts of kindness strengthened her passion for ministry. Each smile, laugh, and moment shared with the children became a powerful reminder that even the smallest gestures can reflect God’s grace.
